A Challenge

We are constantly teaching the youth of the church to make those hard moral decisions before they are placed in difficult situations. By doing so, you don't have to think when someone asks you to do something you're not suppose to...the choice has already been made and you just follow through on you previously made decisions.
I put this to practice the fall before I got pregnant with Maxton when it came to all the holiday food and treats. I went a head and made my decisions on what I would and wouldn't eat and I didn't gain those holiday pounds for once and I was so much happier with myself. I've decided to try it again this year, and see how it goes...anyone with me? It's always a little easier if you know others are doing the same and that the one Christmas sugar cookie or slice of pumpkin pie won't be alone...somewhere near or far there are a few more treats in the same boat...all stuck with strong women about to toss them in the trash or let them be ripped to shreds by the garbage disposal! That's my Challenge, any takers?

I remember your amazing accomplishment that winter! I have already decided to not touch the Halloween candy...let me get over that hump and we'll see how the rest of the holidays go!

Well, I guess I could try? I don't seem to have any trouble with Halloween and only a little trouble with Thanksgiving but then comes Christmas and Super Bowl and Girl Scout Cookies....

yes okay that sounds like a great goal! so what do you decide. Like one treat a gathering. or a day or none at all.
I say good for you. And I would love to join the bandwagon

Tara, I want to join you in the journey, I really do, but you're dealing with a complete sugar pastry addict here. I'm weak! I think I'm sort of starting to like the round grandmother look? Hey your blog though looks so cute and you are motivating me to think about it. Ok tell Ben and the boys hi! Faye

Count me in. This post-baby bod could use that kind of commitment. I've worked hard to return to normal size these past 3 months and it would be a shame to see all my work reversed over the next 3 months!

They teach moderation in all things. In all my health education classes, the theory has been that you set limits and then stick to those limits. So... instead of telling yourself NO sweets, it may be more successful if you say- only a slice ( appropriate portion) of pie with Thanksgiving dinner or 1 cookie from the batch. Fortunately, I'm not a big sweets fan anymore, so pies and cookies aren't that big of a temptation to me. I like to bake them, but not eat them. Weird I know. Anyway- if you are interested they always do a healthy Utah activity about holidays and a program where they give tips and ideas to avoid the holiday binge eating( it's called "Maintain, Don't Gain"). I'll be glad to forward that to you if you would like. Let me know.

hum...does that mean you don't even get ONE of everything? :) Or do you set a limit and then throw the extras away? i could do that - I might get kinda excited to hear the disposal grinding up the sugars and fat that don't make it to my tummy and thigh area! hooray for no cellulite!

That's how I lost it before (Not that I wouldn't say I haven't "Lost It" now:)) But it's more than a holiday hurdle to jump, it's a lifestyle change that really does it. Good luck in your habit changing!
